Watch: Dr. Ivan Bracic on Why Chronic Pain Isn't Just Part of Getting Older

By

In this short, Dr. Ivan Bracic, DC, clinical director at Novaré Injury Care and Rehab in Fort Myers, explains why he doesn't accept chronic pain as a normal part of getting older. He talks about chronic pain as a sign that something isn't right, whether it's in the joints or from muscle weakness, and why care should start with a whole-person evaluation.

What's interesting is how people just accept chronic pain as a part of getting older. I don't buy it. It doesn't have to happen, and there has to be a multifaceted approach to really targeting, restoring their youthfulness.

Chronic pain means that something's not right, whether it's hormonal, whether it's joint, whether it's muscle weakness. We need to address the entire person.

Until you start addressing the entire person and look at all the joints, look at the hormone profile, look at their blood panel, not just cholesterol, but what's going on with their different hormones, and their thyroid, all these different organs. Until you do that, you're just putting a Band-Aid on it.

And so at our clinic, we do not accept chronic pain as part of just getting older.
