● Shockwave Therapy

What Is Shockwave Therapy and How Does It Work?

Shockwave therapy delivers high-energy acoustic waves into injured tissue through a handheld applicator pressed against the skin. The waves create controlled microtrauma at the cellular level, which triggers your body's natural repair response: increased blood flow, new blood vessel formation, and accelerated tissue regeneration.

Each session lasts 10 to 15 minutes. Most patients need 3 to 6 sessions spaced a week apart. The treatment can be intense during the session but the discomfort is brief and manageable.

● Why Shockwave at Novaré

Why Would a Chiropractor Offer Shockwave Therapy?

Because injuries don't always respond to adjustments alone. Shockwave therapy targets the soft tissue damage that chiropractic adjustments can't reach directly.

Breaks Down Scar Tissue

Acoustic waves disrupt adhesions and scar tissue that restrict movement and cause chronic pain. This is especially effective for injuries that have plateaued with other treatments.

Stimulates New Blood Vessels

The controlled microtrauma triggers angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels, which brings more oxygen and nutrients to the injured area.

No Drugs or Surgery

Shockwave therapy is non-invasive and doesn't require anesthesia, medication, or recovery time. You can return to normal activities after each session.

Combined Approach

At Novaré, shockwave therapy is often combined with chiropractic adjustments and Class IV laser therapy for a multi-modality approach to stubborn injuries.
