Neck pain treatment at Novaré Injury Care and Rehab in Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres, FL, under the direction of Dr. Ivan Bracic, DC.
Neck Pain Treatment at Novaré Starts With the Cause
Neck pain usually traces to one of three sources: tight or strained muscles, worn joints and discs, or an irritated nerve. Each needs different care, so Novaré Injury Care and Rehab works out which one you have before treatment starts, using an exam and a digital x-ray.
Neck pain is common, affecting 10% to 20% of adults according to Cleveland Clinic. It gets more common with age and is more frequent in women.
It shows up in retirees with arthritic necks, in people who spend the day on a laptop or phone, and in people who lift for a living.
Neck Pain Symptoms and Causes
Neck pain can mean soreness, a stiff neck that is hard to turn to one side, or numbness and tingling in the arm when a nerve is involved. Muscle strain from everyday habits is a common cause, per MedlinePlus.
Tech Neck and Posture
Bending over a desk for an hour or more, or a monitor set too high or too low
Stiff Neck
Trouble turning your head to one side, sometimes with numbness or tingling in the arm
Arthritis and Disc Wear
Worn discs and joints (cervical spondylosis) affect more than 85% of people over 60, per AAOS
Muscle Strain
Lifting too fast, a jarring twist during exercise, or poor posture can strain neck muscles
Poor Sleep Position
An awkward sleeping position, or a pillow that leaves the neck unsupported
Old Neck Injuries
Whiplash, contact sports and falls can injure the muscles and ligaments of the neck
How Dr. Ivan Diagnoses Neck Pain
The first visit is built to answer one question: what is causing your neck pain. Dr. Ivan Bracic starts with an exam, then takes digital x-rays, which show alignment, lost disc height and bone spurs, per the AAOS.
Hands-On Exam
We check posture, range of motion, strength, reflexes and sensation in the arms to see whether a nerve is involved.
Digital X-Ray on Visit One
Taken on site the same day, digital x-rays show the bones of your neck, including wear at levels like C5-C6. The images go home with you.
MRI When It Is Needed
An MRI shows discs, nerves and the spinal cord, which x-rays cannot. If your exam points to a disc or a nerve, we coordinate one.
Report of Findings
Before treatment, Dr. Bracic walks you through what the exam and images show and what he recommends.
Neck Pain Treatment Options at Novaré
Each plan matches what the exam and imaging show, and it can combine more than one of these treatments.
Chiropractic Adjustments
Adjustments guided by your imaging to restore neck motion. NCCIH reports spinal manipulation can help acute neck pain.
Manual Therapy
Myofascial release, joint mobilization and instrument-assisted soft tissue work for tight neck and shoulder muscles.
Class IV Laser Therapy
Laser treatment for chronic neck pain and inflamed soft tissue, with no medication involved.
Spinal Decompression
Non-surgical decompression for disc-related neck pain. An MRI is required before it starts.
