In this short, Dr. Ivan Bracic, DC, clinical director at Novaré Injury Care and Rehab in Fort Myers, walks through a simple neck stretch you can do with a chair or stool. He shows how to hold the seat, lean to the side and gently stretch with the opposite hand, and he is clear on one point: don't force this or you could make it worse.

So, a simple neck stretch that you can do involves a chair or a stool, your hands, and your body.
I like to tell patients, just grab the bottom of your chair. Flex to the side, take your opposite hand, and just gently stretch the neck. Relax it, take a deep breath in, and let it out.
Everything needs to be done slowly. You don't force this, or you could make it worse.
Again, you do one side, maybe do it about four or five times, and then switch to the other side. It's all you need.
